Gengen serves as VP of R&D & Strategic Partnerships at Bitruvius, where he leads R&D strategy, technology partnerships, and commercialization. He works across research, engineering, and business development to identify emerging technologies, develop strategic relationships, and turn technical innovation into real-world applications and market opportunities.
He brings deep experience across the geospatial industry, spanning global mapping platforms, GIS, applied research, academia, and entrepreneurship. He currently manages partnerships for Amap International Mapping at Alibaba Group, helping expand the capabilities of China’s largest mapping platform into international markets. He is also the co-founder of Centmap, a technology company focused on indoor mapping and smart parking solutions.
Previously, Gengen served as a program lead with the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, advising a provincial-level maritime navigation technology initiative spanning motion reference systems, seafloor mapping, and underwater robotics. He also spent five years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, where his work included geospatial research and doctoral mentorship. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly four years at Esri delivering GIS solutions for local government, public utilities, and electric cooperatives across the southeastern United States.
Gengen’s combination of geospatial expertise, applied R&D, entrepreneurship, and international industry experience helps Bitruvius connect foundational technology development with strategic partners and the markets where that technology can have the greatest impact.
